Meaning of the Name
Hesed is the Hebrew word for "kindness." It is also commonly translated as "loving kindness," or "love" and even "mercy."
Yoga is a Sanskrit word that means to "yoke" or to "unite".
At Hesed Yoga, we strive to offer you ways to become aware of your body, to listen to your body and help you "yoke" your Body, Mind and Soul. The end result being the ability to show kindness to your body.
Our classes help you to achieve increased flexibility as well as strength and balance.
We give you a place to take time out of your busy life to listen, to learn, to love.

I was born in Sapulpa, OK and grew up in Kiefer, OK and lived in the same house from birth until I moved away to college at the age of 24. I have an Associate Degree in Foodservice Management and Culinary Arts from OSU Tech in Okumulgee, OK and began working in the food industry at age 14. At the age of 23, I received a call into a ministry setting and left the foodservice field to pursue a degree in Religion. In 1998 I received a B.A. in Religion with an emphasis in Christian Education from Oklahoma City University. I have worked in Youth and Children's ministry in several locations in both paid and volunteer status for over 20 years. While at OCU I met my wife. We have been married since 1998 and have one son. We lived as dorm parents at the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics for 3 years and now reside in Weatherford, OK. I experienced my first yoga class in Durham, NC while my wife and I were living there when she was completing her Masters of Divinity degree at Duke. Once we returned to Oklahoma in 2001, my interest in yoga continued and I tried to find yoga classes in the small towns where we lived, but this was hard to do. Once we moved to Oklahoma City, it became easier and I attended as many classes as possible and experienced different teachers and styles (thanks to the many teachers at the YMCA's in OKC). I decided to deepen my yoga practice and found a 200 hour yoga teacher training in Norman, OK at YogaLife Studios. I joined the training class in 2010 and I am now an ERYT 200 certified Yoga Instructor. The experience there was incredible and now I have the opportunity to pass this experience on to others. Thanks be to God for the support of my wife and family while doing this training and for understanding and indulging my passions. I continue to take classes at my training studio as well as other yoga studios. I attend workshops to continue the learning process. One person that I follow is Doug Keller, my teacher's teacher. I also read books and articles from many of the top named Yoga Instructors from all over the world. I will be adding a resource page with books, articles and videos for you to check out. I have been certified in Tai Chi: Moving for Better Balance through the Oklahoma City County Health Department and the Oregon Research Institute. I completed my study at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and am a Certified Health Coach. I completed my 52 Hour certification in Thai Yoga Bodywork Level 1 with Martha McQuaid at Spirit House Yoga in Oklahoma City. Other interests include: Being a Husband and Father, playing the piano and singing, cooking, painting, making prayer beads, photography and health and nutrition issues(just to name a few). I also have a love and a passion for teaching about Christian Spiritual Disciplines. |

Linda Is a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner, receiving certification in 2011 and recertified in 2016. She was hooked on Healing Touch after experiencing it for the first time from a friend who had just taken a beginning Healing Touch class. Linda began her training soon after that with a Level 1 class held at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa in 1997, continuing through subsequent levels at Mercy Hospital and Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, ending with the first Level 5 Healing Touch class ever offered in Oklahoma. During that time, she studied and practiced Healing Touch with family and friends while involved in a career in educations. After 27 years of teaching Spanish and English as a Second Language in public schools, universities and community colleges in South Dakota, Iowa, and Oklahoma, she retired from teaching Spanish at South Western Oklahoma State University in Weatherford in 2014. Linda currently volunteers Healing Touch for a Hospice provider in Oklahoma City. In addition to Healing Touch interests, she also likes to travel, visit grandchildren in Oklahoma and Minnesota, and hike in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge near Lawton. She volunteers at Weatherford Food and Resource Center and at feedings for the homeless in Oklahoma City, and she participates in medical mission trips to Mexico several times a year with People Caring for People. Linda is passionate about the benefits of Healing Touch and is excited to have the opportunity to share these gentle techniques with the Weatherford community.
